Here are the most noteworthy changes to the rules that are used for the Golarion Nights D&D game:
Variant Experience System - Sessions will net the players(as a whole) between 1 and 3 XP(usually 2) towards the next level. Players level up every 10 points of XP they've accumulated.
Experience for Session Summaries - Any in-character report(journal, letter to a loved one, dictated tales in a tavern, etc) of a session posted on the message board will earn the player a bonus of 1 XP.
Shields Shall be Splintered - Any time you take damage, you can opt instead to say your shield absorbed the force of the blow. The shield is shattered(in the case of wooden shields) or dented beyond use(in the case of metal shields) and must be discarded, but you don't take any damage from that hit. For magical shields, the shield survives, but is more battered and worn afterwards and loses a +1.
Simplified Squares - We're going to borrow a page out of the 4th edition book here. Diagonals no longer count as 1.5 squares and now count as 1. I'm hoping this cuts down on the amount of counting of squares people are doing. I'm pretty sure we all agree that square counting makes combats last longer and contributes nothing interesting to the experience for anyone! Spell area effects are unchanged at the moment!

Updated with the new experience system. It's kinda ad hoc, kinda not, and basically solves all my problems.

Love the movement change. Will you be updating us on our XP totals, or posting in here, or will you just notify us when we have leveled?

I'll post the XP totals here on the forums. Since we have our first missed session tonight, I also want to mention that a short story about what your character's been up to in the meanwhile will be worth 1 xp too. Think of it as a session summary award for a session you weren't there for! Also there's no time limit on session summaries, so people that skip them now can make it up later if they think writing multiple summaries at once is worth leveling up, haha!

Missed session? The game's not on, then? That's news to me.

I think he's referring to Bret missing it - he's working, right?

Yeah, Bret's missing a session, but I worded that weird!
