Name: Vehran Svetocher
Race: Dhampir (descended from the Moroi variety of vampire - uses the term for it as a surname, "Svetocher.")
Gender: M
Profession: (Oracle) Bounty Hunter/Mercenary
Alignment: NE
Deity: Pharasma
Age: 149 (equivalent to early/mid 20s in humans)
Hair/Eye color: Ashen blonde/pale gold
Height: 5' 11"
Weight: Uh, thin?
Description: As with most Dhampir, Vehran is a willowy fellow. His slight build, effiminate manner, and alarmingly pale complexion often cause people to assume he is weak or sickly, unsuspecting of his true nature. He also has the elongated canines of the Dhampir, though he rarely shows them.
He wears mostly dark clothing - black silk shirt and dyed-black buckskin breeches beneath sable-brown studded-leather armor and over-the-knee boots. He wears a white scarf that seems a bit too long and voluminous for your average scarf, and you get the idea that maybe it used to be a cloak once, but after some damage was repurposed. All of his clothes look like they were expensive once, but now they're slightly threadworn and outdated. He carries a spear and a crossbow.
Whenever he's near a light source brighter than a candleflame, he wears smoked glasses and a wide-brimmed hat pulled low to shade his eyes. The hat's brim is pointed at front and back, and a ragged black featherjuts from the gold hat band. Pinning the feather to the hat is a small, blood-red gem.
Bio: Vehran was born in the gloomy principality of Ustalav. His mother was Bellina Svanovich, the 16-year-old daughter of the county constable. She became pregnant after a whirlwind romance with the vampire Edvarius. He left her, saying that if he stayed it would be "too dangerous." Nine months later she gave birth to Vehran. It was bad enough that she was an unwed mother, but when the townsfolk learned that Bellina had given birth to a dhampir, the family was run out of town to live alone on the outskirts of Virlych, in the shadow of the dreaded Gallowspire. Sullen and forlorn, Bellina pined for her beloved Edvarius, convinced he would return. She died of old age and despair 50 years later, leaving Vehran alone and bitter. Disgusted at his mother's weakness, he decided then to embrace his vampire heritage.
Among his mother's belongings, he found a series of highly descriptive (though poorly written) journals that she had kept, chronicling her brief but torrid romance with Edvarius. He gathered what information he could from them and set out to search for his father, hoping to be taught his vampire ways. Alas, one has to make money to fund a journey, and Vehran found his quest constantly interrupted by his efforts to do so. He took up work as a bounty hunter whenever necessary, taking the most dangerous jobs, as only the desperate would hire him.
After nearly 100 years of searching, he found his father's estate in Nidal, a ruined stone structure hidden deep in the forest of Uskwood. Edvarius had been slain long since, his house a burnt-out shell. The only item that remained intact was a small ruby hat pin. The moment Vehran touched it, the restless spirit of Edvarius was bonded to him! And boy, did Edvarius have a quest for him...
Fun Facts:
* Vehran is an Oracle studying the Ancestor mystery; his father is both the Ancestor who gives him power and the Curse that haunts him.
* Though quiet and standoffish, Vehran has gotten past his "emo" stage and now finds human interaction amusing.
* Edvarius, though always described as being regal and perfect by Bellina, is a total jerk to Vehran. He constantly plays pranks on him (represented by the Haunted curse), and overall seems callous and immature. Maybe becoming a ghost regressed him, or perhaps Bellina was just easily impressed.
* Vehran spends most of his downtime in the Virisian settlement of Nybor, where half-breeds of all kinds are accepted.
