We've varied greatly on our inbetween session timing depending on the storyline. So my question is for this week's downtime. Are we picking up Monday just getting back to town, the next day, or something else?
I ask because with this level I get pet, and if I want him to even do rudimentary comnands, I need a week to teach him. I'm planning to have found him as we were heading back to town from the nuthouse in session summary, so just need to have general idea what he can do come monday and what still needs doing.
Side note, would "bonus tricks" be something he learns 'for free w/o the downtime?
Side note: I read somewhere it suggested you teach your animals commands in a language other than common so your enemies don't know your plan.
So my question is what "languages" does the companion understand? Will he obey commands in anything I deem to teach him in (aka anything I can speak), or would he need to gain INT up to 3 so he can learn linguistics to understand commands in more than one language? It's not like he's going to speak or understand full sentances, just certain words, like sit, stay, howl, and dismember.
I would like him to be able to obey commands in Drow Sign Language and Undercommon (I'm picking these up this level also) at minimum, but it would be nice if he would obey Common and Elvish too.
I think, given that we're now having downtime between sessions out of character, it makes sense for our characters to have a little downtime as well. I wouldn't be opposed to taking a week off in character; I know Morvius has to take at least a week to train his horse to do monk moves, and maybe the magic users could do some crafting, and it would give us a time frame to write any "extra credit" stories we might have in mind.
